Any infection in your urinary tract is awful but way too many of us deal with them. I’ve been dealing with UTIs and kidney and bladder infections since I was around eight years old. I’ve learned a lot since being diagnosed with Chronic Lyme and CIRS and I believe the onset of my kidney issues coincided with when I contracted Lyme Disease. I’m certain I was living in a home with mold at that time too, which exacerbated my symptoms. I had so many kidney infections during that time, that my pediatrician sent me to the hospital to have a CT with contrast.
That day was pretty traumatic for the little eight year old, extremely modest version of me, so I remember it well. I remember my Mama being right by my side (as always) and a very sweet nurse taking care of me. I walked down the hallway to the CT room feeling like the entire world could see my naked hind end through the slit in the back of that hospital gown! My Mama was holding it closed for me but it felt mighty airy back there!
Although the trip down the hall was rough, it wasn’t as scary as learning what a catheter was. Next was the absolute biggest “shot” I’d ever seen. When the nurse brought that out, I thought I was done for! It turned out that it was just the syringe holding the contrast. I managed to live through it all. As with many chronic illnesses, my tests came back inconclusive and I just kept dealing with rounds of antibiotics for years to come.
Thankfully, I’ve learned of more natural ways to help prevent urinary tract issues. When I feel a UTI coming on, I try to hit it with all the resources I have. I want to knock it out as soon as I can! I’m going to share a recipe for the Cranberry Blast Drink I use to help fight off urinary tract issues.
You will need:
- Apple Cider Vinegar – ACV acts as a natural antibiotic and disinfectant in the urinary tract. Use an ACV with the “mother” for the most healing results. I use Bragg’s brand.
- Organic 100% Pure Cranberry Juice – Cranberry juice is the “go-to” home remedy for UTIs. Cranberry juice contains a particular flavonoid called proanthocyanidin-A that has an antibiotic effect and keeps the bacteria causing the UTI from sticking to the walls of the urinary tract. It also reduces inflammation.
- Organic Moringa – Moringa is a powerful antioxidant, antiviral, antibacterial, antifungal amazing superfood. It has been proven to help heal UTIs.
- Baobab Powder – Baobab is another amazing superfood with incredibly high levels of Vitamin C, antioxidants, it’s a prebiotic, helps to alkalize the body and provides many benefits to help your body operate at it’s peak.
- Stevia – Stevia is an all natural sweetener that has no negative effects on your blood sugar and may actually carry many health benefits, even in the treatment of Lyme Disease, so I use it daily.
- Filtered Ice or Water – We have a Big Berkey Water System in our kitchen as we are currently on “city water” (as we Southern folks call it). One of the main health goals that I have is to remove as many environmental toxins as I can. Using filtered water is so important to accomplish that goal.
I use my Nutri Ninja kitchen system to make simple drinks like this one. It’s quicker and easier than using my Vitamix.

Mix in your blender until the ice is crushed and ingredients are mixed. I prefer a “slushie” consistency.
Enjoy your drink!
I try to drink at least one a day when healing a UTI. You can also enjoy this delicious drink at any time since it has such nourishing ingredients. You can also make it your own by adding blueberries or other antioxidant filled fruits or using another natural sweetener. I sometimes use about a teaspoon of Trim Healthy Mama’s Super Sweet Blend .
